Books Recommended By Eric

Books recommended by Eric...his response to a question that he was frequently asked: "What are the books I have read to shape my thinking?"‎

""Diamond Cutter" by Geshe Michael Roche - the book taught me about karma and generosity. To be happy, first make someone else happy. To be rich, first help someone get rich. And to be loved, first love.

‎"Altas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand. A highly controversial and philosophical book (heard they are making this into a movie really soon). This book introduced me to objectivism, where "civilization cannot exist where men are slave to society and government, and that the destruction of the profit motive leads to the collapse of society."

"Who Will Cry When You Die" by Robin Sharma. Blew my mind away when I first read it as it inspired me to live my best life. This is also where I first learnt that one's purpose in life is the convergence of one's passion, one's talent and one's most natural way of giving back.

"Public Speaking For Success" by Dale Carnegie. One of the first books I ever read about public speaking. Great ideas that stood the test of time and has shaped the way I approach public speaking and communication.

The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini. His first book "Eragon" was made into a movie. I am crazy about mythology, magic and dragons. So far he has written three books and I have read it three times each. It's what made me who I am - a little geeky with a streak of defiance and love for adventure."

Recommendation from his sister, Eileen:
"Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card - on how compassion makes us more human.. when we take the time to truly understand our "enemy", how can we possibly not have anything but compassion and love towards them. Other lessons like game vs reality.. the influence of our memories on us."

I havent read any of the above books yet...n there r still tons of books lying somewhere in my rooms...will get to these when i have finally managed to locate n clear the outstanding ones in my rooms @.@" but do share with me what u've learnt if u've read these titles ya =) i guess the title which really caught my eye was "Who Will Cry When You Die" by Robin Sharma...i dont wanna anyone to be sad when i'm gone...in fact, there was a really weird idea which was swimming in my leechie head a couple of years ago...i was wondering why must most funerals be such sad affairs with sooooooo many ppl weeping n weeping...i actually wondered how cool it would be if i could have my own funeral at this now-defunct club "Centro" at One Fullerton, playing progressive trance music instead of the usual funeral music...lol ;p i wouldnt know how my funeral would look like...n it doesnt matter to me...but i dont wanna anyone to be sad when i'm gone...

"Let your desired memories that u wanna leave others with be a source of motivation in how u live your life!!!" ~ leechie

Suddenly rem this particular blog entry that i wrote way back in 2009 (which was a year of big swings for me personally)
i juz realized tt there r many ppl reading what i wrote donkey years ago o.O do take a look at my earlier blogs...more substance in there i feel ;p n for those of u who r still under the impression tt there is nothing much underneath leechie's bimbotic looks...i urge u to go read my earlier blogs in 2009 n 2010 o.O

"People who mind, don't matter. People who matter, don't mind. This is True..."

"I wonder if you think of me when you're busy? Cause I'm always busy thinking of you."
Maybe he's juz not that into u, babe...save yourself from further heartache >.<"

"A soulmate is someone who has locks that fit our keys, and keys to fit our locks. When we feel safe enough to open the locks, our truest selves step out and we can be completely and honestly who we are; we can be loved for who we are and not for who we’re pretending to be." ~ Richard Bach

According to Alex:
"Fortunately, the type of questions you ask reflect, your level of maturity, ignorance, values n how much a shit you give towards certain things"
but this silly leechie has so many silly questions >.<"

Update:

Juz saw the pic of a male mediacorp artiste posing with a kate spade box...lol...leechie wanna pose with a kate spade box too...anyone wanna lend me one? ;p OMG...guess what? harn is standing as a candidate in a GRC!!! i was pretty shocked when i received the sms from her! should i ask her to pose with a kate spade box? ;p well, she says she will pose with a kate spade box if u guys make a donation...lol ;p btw, i gotta clarify tt this aint a political blog n leechie aint into politics...so i'm most definitely not affliated with any political party...i'm helping harn post this cos she's a personal friend...so it's definitely not an inducement for anyone to vote for any particular party! leechie is purely capitalistic...far from political...so i prefer to be affliated with $$$ instead ;p

Btw, leechie was at Forever21 juz now when the staff commented tt my kate spade bag looks nice...i asked him if i shld pose with a kate spade box instead? ;p btw, i was juz standing there outside the fitting rooms when some gal came outta a fitting room n handed me all the clothes tt she juz tried...she obviously thought tt leechie was the sales assistant there o.O n it's not the first time tt something like this happened...think i really have this sales assistant look eh? o.O"
