There are 3 main themes for this hair show: Candy Dandy, White Hot and Metalxx, featuring a total of 36 models and 3 Schwarzkopf teams from Australia, Singapore and Malaysia and outfits from Dzojchen, Revasseur and Mae Pang. In recognition that true creativity is realized through technical excellence, the Essential Looks 2014 Hair Show in Singapore will showcase a variety of styles and techniques. Named ‘Style Tec’, this edition of Essential Looks will not only inspire with its latest collection but also provide the techniques necessary to bring the very best cuts, colours and styles to life. With an impressive line-up of well-known global guest artist Scott Sloan, local ambassadors Antonio Ng (8 Days Hair Studio) and Eddie Tan (X'pect Studio), and guest artists Kelvin Koh (MONSOON-id) and Jimmy Cheng & AB Wong (Celeb Trendz), the Essential Looks 2014 Hair Show is set to inspire and inform, and translate and share.
TECHNIQUE MEETS STYLE
We live on a highly sophisticated planet, driven by trends conceived on the global catwalk and beamed the world over in seconds. In their purest form, directional trends can be inaccessible but, like a stone thrown into still water, the ripple effect reaches us all. Hairdressers everywhere need to be on top of every key fashion story but, more importantly, they need to be able to interpret them in a way that works for their salon, their clients and their lives in the real world. The best ideas flourish or fail by how well they’re executed which is why Schwarzkopf has named this edition of Essential Looks ‘Style Tec’, in recognition that true creativity is realised through technical excellence. So, not only will you find all the inspiration you need in this collection, but also the techniques necessary to bring the very best cuts, colours and styles to life, every single day.

CANDY DANDY
Spring/summer 2014 pastels ditch the sugar for a lick of spice as a popping candy palette is brought bang up-to-date via sculpted silhouettes, bold detailing and plisse sheers. While the clothes layered the sherbet shades, hair showcased the candy evolution with a light-lining technique in a palette of soft smoky greys, apricots and pale blondes. Cuts, meanwhile, placed the emphasis firmly on rounded fringes and square outlines in styles of every length.

This was my first time watching a live hair show but I really love the live haircut demostration segment during which, Schwarzkopf Professional international guest artist, Scott Sloan, transformed the model's long flowing locks into a sleek short hairdo that nicely framed her face.
My favourite look from the Candy Dandy theme
WHITE HOT
When it comes to white, hot doesn’t mean smoking. Delicate, chic and seductive, this trend is a sophisticated slow burner that’s all about the details. The runways chose a base of fluid sheers for delicate appliqué, embellishment and embroidered detailing while a colour fusing technique picks red tonal combinations to add instant interest in the hair. The flatter internal shapes of the cut direction are offset with a variety of asymmetric shapes, to create looks that work effortlessly from noon-day heat to long, sultry nights.
METALXX
Florals have long exercised a fascination over designers that shows no signs of waning, but this season the key was to channel a whole new way to work them. Enter metallics. No shrinking violets here as this trend blazed an unforgettable trail across the fashion capitals of the world with lustrous fabrics, bold embossing and exquisite embroidery. Hair followed the bold direction, fusing short internal layers in longer outlines and soft fringes with cool metallic shades for a fresh new riff on modern glamour.
Sleek hairdo which is very versatile for both day and night looks
One of my favourite looks from Schwarzkopf Essentials Looks 1.2014 Hair Show. Love the ash-brown tone and soft curls which complements the model's sweet face.
Love how the color and cut of this short hairdo brings out the model's youthful looks
