Loving Memories of Malacca Nov 2011

Yohoo...i'm back!!! but we almost couldnt make it for this trip down to Malacca...cos there were some issues between the travel agent n the coach services company...but i managed to persuade the person-in-charge of the coach services company to arrange our transportation to-and-fro malacca...phew... =.=" i went there with 2 bags n returned with 5 bags...lol ;p

I love the nice & cheap food in Malacca...esp the yummy chicken rice balls n durian chendol...n the warm ppl there =) we went to the same chicken rice ball shop for 2 consecutive days n the boss rems me...n he served us with additional rice balls on the 2nd day although he was running out of rice balls...he was afriad tt i couldnt zzz if i didnt get to eat the rice balls...lol...i'm a v.simple person...nice food makes me happy...i like the simple lifestyle in Malacca...

The pasar malam at Jonker Street is a must-go!!! but they only operate from fri to sun...from 6pm till 10pm or midnite...depending on the weather...plenty of interesting stuff there to eat n shop ;p when i was in malacca, the weather tend to b rather hot earlier in the day...then it would pour for abt 2hr or so in the afternoons...tt was when we would go for lunch n shop for the local produce...i bought most of the foodstuff from the famous San Shu Gong shop (the same shop selling the famous durian chendol) and the spicy Nonya stuff from a Bibik shop opposite the stage (where Astro was filming their CNY special...abit early ya?cos it's not even christmas yet -.-") where the owner is a nice Peranakan who will helpfully exchange foreign currency for RM if u need any...(think there is only 1 money changer at Jonker Street but it closes early -.-) n i bot nonya pineapple tarts n tao siah piah from this shop v.near the stage...saw alot of media cuttings at their shop...the prices might b slightly higher than elsewhere...but i prefer to pay abit more to get something nicer ;p my fren was comparing the prices of pineapple tarts here, there n everywhere...but she ended up buying none...cos she thinks it's still too exp...i'm amused...cos i only paid 16rm for a bottle of pineapple tarts there...think i would need to fork out S$20 for the same bottle in sg...some ppl would rather stinge on food to buy branded bags and they consider that as stretching their $$$. n she didnt buy the cutie strawberry shortcake bedroom slippers which i paid only 10rm for...amused to see her eyeing my slippers...lol ;p i wouldnt deny myself tt little bit of happiness which i can derive by buying myself somthg small n cheap ;p n i shop fast n alot...she hardly bot anythg...she spent alot of time shopping around...only to return with a mousepad n some earrings...i actually thought she went shopping around for a husband? lol ;p i'm not a perfectionist...i dont bother spending so much time trying to find fault with stuff or to look for the perfect thing...cos i know i'm far from perfect! i'm only human...

Stay tuned for the pics taken at Christ Church, Jonker Street, St Paul Ruins n Melaka Zoo...took a few hundred pics during this trip...guess what? not only is sg a small place...malacca's a small place too...i actually bumped into alex n gary at St Paul's Ruins...they were holidaying in malacca with their spouses =) too bad tt Angeline was busy with her house renovations so i couldnt meet up with her during this trip...but there's always next time ya =) btw, heard from the cab drivers tt hotels in Malacca r mostly fully booked for the weekends...so pls book early if u intend to go there...saw on fb tt quite a few frenz also travelled to Malacca these few days...bro Justin was asking abt my trip...think it's a nice n fun place to bring ur family to for a short trip =)

Interesting Quotes:

"‎"I once picked up a woman from a garbage dump and she was burning with fever; she was in her last days and her only lament was: ‘My son did this to me.’ I begged her: You must forgive your son. In a moment of madness, when he was not himself, he did a thing he regrets. Be a mother to him, forgive him. It took me a long time to make her say: ‘I forgive my son.’ Just before she died in my arms, she... was able to say that with a real forgiveness. She was not concerned that she was dying. The breaking of the heart was that her son did not want her. This is something you and I can understand." ~ Mother Teresa
A clean heart is a free heart. Be with your true spirit at all time, be your true self. There is a terrible hunger for love. We all experience that in our lives - the pain, the loneliness... I start my day with love in my heart."

"Developing inner values is much like physical exercise. The more we train our abilities, the stronger they become." ~ Dalai Lama

"In return for your unkindness, I will be kind to you."

"One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey. He requested all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.
A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!

MORAL of the Story:
Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick of getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up." ~ Cempaka

"He who does not understand your silence will probably not understand your words."

"Say what you want to say when you have the feeling and the chance. My greatest regrets are the things I did not do, the opportunities missed and the things unsaid." ~ Jim Keller

"人不怕不聪明,怕的是有一颗有求的心。
人不怕太积极,怕的是有一颗糊涂的心。
人不怕成就高,怕的是有ㄧ颗高傲的心。
人不怕再失败,怕的是有一颗自卑的心。
人不怕命太好,怕的是有一颗不满的心。
人不怕运太差,怕的是有ㄧ颗比较的心。"
