MUST-READ: ‘My legs are now so tired and weak’
Tears rolled down my face as i read the following article...
It's always so sad to read abt their lives in sg...a place where u work till u die? :'( guess there r ppl at the food courts who wouldnt even care abt their presence...or might even find them annoying n wave them away? =( honestly, i feel so small n insignificant compared to this elderly lady here...she made my long hours seem like nothing...how many ppl out there can empathize with how hard this old lady needs to slog juz to have enough $ to eat???!!! i wonder what kind of welfare benefits r there for the needy here?! i bet there r many others like her who need to slog till they die!!! :'(
Is working till death somthing tt would become an accepted norm here soon? o.O my heart really goes out to the many needy elderly ppl out there...they r also someone's mummy or granny...they r also a part of our society...perhaps hidden in some coffeeshops in some heartlands...but perhaps not recognized by most of the practical n apathetic general population who would prefer to rub shoulders with their successful peers n ppl whom they think can help them climb the corporate ladder faster or whom can boost their biz rather than to care abt anyone perceived to be doing some "lowly" jobs?! maybe those in their smart suits n posh offices r too busy thinking of how to squeeze more $$$...who cares abt what could be done to improve the quality of life of the needy elderly folks here?! o.O damn...tears again rolled down my face as i write... :'(

By Andrew Loh | SingaporeScene
"My friend and I were having a late supper at a 24-hour food court in Hougang on Thursday. It was about 11:30pm.
She came up to us at the table. "Want to buy tissue?" she said. The voice sounded familiar to me. I turned around and indeed it was the same elderly lady whom I have seen in other parts of Hougang at other times, peddling her tissue packs at the neighbourhood coffeeshops.
She didn't wait for a reply. "2 packets for S$1.20," she said in the local dialect, Hokkien, as she laid the 2 tissue packs on the table. I reached into my wallet and gave her a S$2 note.
"You are working late," I said to her.
"I just came out of the hospital," she replied. "The other day I fainted and fell. They called an ambulance and sent me to the hospital."
She had been doing one of her rounds at the coffeeshops when it happened, three weeks ago. "Tan Tock Seng Hospital," she offered. "I had to stay there for three weeks and was only discharged three days ago." I asked her why she fainted, though I could guess the reasons.
Please don't close the door until my legs are in the car.
Madam LimLim, as she later told me her name was, is a frail-looking woman. The deep-set lines on her face, and the prominent sockets of her eyes, the paper-thin skin on her arms marked with liver spots or old age spots as they are sometimes called, and her severely hunched back tell a tale of struggle in making ends meet.
"I no longer sell 4-D tickets," she said, referring to the lottery tickets which she would sell for S$2.50 each, making 50 cents off each ticket. "When I fainted that day, I had 120 tickets with me."
She said the tickets were worth about S$300. As she was in hospital for an extended period, she could not sell or return them. So she lost that amount of money. This is why she now sells tissue paper. At least they do not have an expiry date like the tickets.
"You shouldn't work so late," I urged her.
"No choice," she replied. "Otherwise I won't have enough to eat."
A lady's kindness
Just then, another lady, perhaps in her 60s, came up to Lim and thrusted a S$10 note into her hands. "Aunty, take this," the lady said to Lim. But the older woman would not accept it.
"No, no! I cannot take this." The lady insisted as she continued to push the note into Lim's hands. After some to-ing and fro-ing, the elderly madam finally had no choice really but to accept the S$10.
"Thank you," she said to the other lady who quickly took her leave without saying much.
As it turned out, the lady who gave Lim the S$10, as my friend observed, was a cardboard collector. She had parked her trolly, which is evidently used for collecting card boards, outside the food court before approaching Lim to give her the money. Indeed, after having handed the note to the older woman, she went back to her trolly and left, pushing her trolly with her.
Lim, as I noticed, was a little embarrassed from what had just transpired which had attracted the attention of the patrons and stall owners in the food court. She quickly put the note in her pocket, and continued to make her rounds of the food court, with the bag which contained the tissue packs slung on her shoulders and a well-worn umbrella in her hands.
As she walked away, all hunched and in tentative steps, I was on the one hand sad for her while on the other full of admiration of her courage and strength.
It was by this time approaching midnight and we wanted to speak with Lim more. We went around the food court looking for her. She wasn't there anymore. So we went out of the food court and looked around the surrounding area. It was already dark and the shops were all closed. Only a handful of people were around -- but not Lim.
"She must have gone to the coffeeshop nearby," I told my friend. I am quite familiar with the area and knew that the coffeeshop wasn't far away. So we made our way there. And indeed, Lim was there, going from table to table to peddle her tissue packs. We didn't want to interrupt her and so we sat down at a table and waited.
10 minutes later, she was done and we saw her making her way out of the coffeeshop. We went to meet her. When she saw us, she said, "Want to buy tissue paper?"
I said, "We bought from you just now at the food court, remember?"
She smiled and replied, "Oh, you bought already."
A simple request
I asked her where she lived. "Just nearby, behind Hougang Mall." Then she asked me, "Do you drive?"
I replied, "No, I don't drive."
"Oh, I thought if you did, you could maybe send me home," she said. "My legs are now so tired and weak."
Just then, my friend, who did not hear the exchange between me and Mdm Lim, came up to me and asked if we could send her home. I had momentarily forgotten that my friend drives. "Oh aunty," I said to Lim, "My friend drives. We can send you home."
"Oh, that's good," she replied, clearly thankful and relieved that she would not have to make the long way home on foot.
When we got to the car, she asked me to help her. "My legs have no strength anymore." She then held my hands as she settled herself into the seat. "Please don't close the door until my legs are in the car," she told me.
In the car, I asked her about her family. "I have only one daughter," she replied. "But her husband has heart problems. For 20 years already, since he was in his 30s. He can't work because of this. Now in his 50s, they also have financial problems of their own. He needs to see the doctor, too."
Lim then told me that she had to pay S$4,500 for her three-week hospital stay. "That is a lot of money," she said. "But my daughter used her CPF to pay for me. My daughter is Singaporean. I am only PR, that is why so expensive. I have been in Singapore for 40 years but I am stupid, didn't know to apply for citizenship." She was visibly upset.
Lim would leave her home at 5.30pm each day to sell her tissue papers. It is a cooler time of day. She would only go home close to midnight. She makes about $10 or slightly more daily, just enough for her personal expenses.
As we reached her HDB block, she thanked us several times, wishing us prosperity. I realised that her home was quite some distance from the food court and coffeeshop and that it must take her quite an effort to trudge there everyday to do her rounds.
"Let me walk you to the elevator, " I offered.
"Ok," she said. "Can you leave only when the elevator door has closed?" she asked me.
I replied that I would, of course. She bade me goodnight and thanked my friend and I several times for driving her home.
Finally, the elevator arrived. I asked her to take care of herself, as the doors closed.
It was about 12.30am.
I am sure I will see her again around the neighbourhood.
She is 83-years old."

This is the F1 party to be seen at this weekend...where Singapore's party elite gathers! ♥ this party is by invitation only...n the invites r not on sale! =) i spent some time searching for my bling bling clutch bag so took som time to reach...judging by the look on their faces, Brian n PK were there really early manz...o.O btw, brian has many frenz who were there for this party too...cool B-)
There were quite a few different specialty Johnnie Walker cocktails being served for this party along with sumptuous finger food =) my fav cocktail from the main bar was "Red Flag", which was a Johnnie Walker cocktail with peach and grapefruit juice...i like the sweet taste...i personally find "Pit Stop" abit too strong for me...but the guys like it n they asked the bartender to make it less sweet...i wanted to try the 3rd cocktail but they ran out of cocktails close to midnight when i came out of the whisky tasting session...well, i found out tt i juz need to smile n ask the bartender politely...n there it is...the 3rd cocktail of the nite -> "Johnnie Walker Sour" ;p
There were a few exotic cocktails served inside the private dining area where the whisky tasting sessions were held =) i like "Passionate Nite" which was a Johnnie Walker cocktail with passion fruit...i cant take much coffee but the Johnnie Walker cocktail with coffee was really nice! "Smoky Johnnie" was the other cocktail served...
Bar counter inside the private dining area where the whisky tasting session was held...

There were a few interactive games station n photo booths...here r som pics generated from the video game at the interactive games station =)

With Conrad at the private dining area
With Brian...was telling him tt the dress code was stylish n sophisticated...n he gave a v.candid reply tt he dunno how to be stylish...lol...
Wanted to do ceramic perm at the salon prior to attending the party but i was rejected cos my hair is too fine n weak...my natural curl is so strong tt they said doing ceramic perm wouldnt make much difference =.=" so they did scalp n hair treatment for me instead...btw, i noticed tt the "ceramic-permed" hair of the gal who sat next to me look like mine...juz tt my natural curls look far more natural...well, perhaps things do not always turn out the way we want it to be...haiz...
Had plenty of fun...wanna thank Johnnie Walker for hosting such a great f1 party! ♥

Humor Regarding Both Genders o.O
Pic shared by dr. Woof ;p
Happened to see this quote which many fb frenz agree greatly with...
What's ur relationship status? o.O"
Someday someone's gonna thank you for letting me go...
Love is...
The problems with MEN o.O"
Study hard n get good grades...so tt u can slog for others! =.="
I juz booked the air tix for our Beijing trip next yr...wanna share a joke here:
"Here is something to laugh about....
1. Women are unpredictable.
Before marriage, she expects a man.
After marriage she suspects him, and after death she respects him.
2. There was this guy who told his woman that he loved her so much that he would go thru hell for her. They got married - and now he is going thru hell.
3. A man inserted an 'ad' in the classifieds: "Wife wanted".
Next day, he received a hundred letters.
They all said the same thing: "You can have mine."
4. When a man opens the door of his car for his wife, you can be sure of one thing: either the car is new or the wife.
5. It's easy to tell if a man is married or not.
Just watch him drive a car with a woman sitting beside him.
If both his hands are on the wheel, you can be sure he is married.
6. A man received a letter from some kidnappers.
The letter said, "If you don't promise to send us $100,000 I swear that we will kidnap your wife."
The poor man wrote back, "I am afraid I can't keep my promise but I hope you will keep yours."
7. "What's the matter, you look depressed."
"I'm having trouble with my wife."
"What happened?"
"She said she wasn't going to speak to me for 30 days."
"But that ought to make you happy."
"It did, but today is the last day."
8. WOMAN
When she is 18 - She is a football, 22 men going after her....
When she is 28 - She is a hockey ball, 8 men going after her.
When she is 38 - She is a golf ball, 1 man hitting on her.
When she is 48 - She is a pingpong ball, 2 men pushing to each other.
9. MAN
At 20 - A man is like a coconut, so much to offer, so little to give.
At 30 - He is like a durian, dangerous but delicious.
At 40 - He is like a watermelon, big, round and juicy.
At 50 - He is like a mandarin orange, the season comes once a year.
At 60 - He is just like a raisin, dried out, wrinkles and cheap.
10. Marriage Humour
In the beginning, God created earth and rested.
Then God created man and rested.
Then God created woman.
Since then, neither God nor man has rested."
"A foolish man tells a woman to stop talking, but a wise man tells her that her mouth is extremely beautiful when her lips are closed."
"A Woman's Prayer :
I pray for :
Wisdom, To understand a man.
Love, To forgive him.
Patience, For his moods.
Because if I pray for Strength,
I'll just beat him to death. (WAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!!)"
"When you're single, people ask about boyfriend?
When you have a fiance, they ask when is the wedding?
When you get married, they ask when will you get pregnant?
When you already have one, they ask when is the little brother or sister coming along?
When you divorce they ask why?
If you try to move on, they ask why so quickly?
People will never stop asking...
If you're proud of who you are and you don't care what people think about you, Paste it on your wall because U ONLY LIVE YOUR LIFE ONCE..."
"Around the corner I HAVE A friend
In this great city that has no end,
Yet the days go by and weeks rush on,
And before I know it,a year is gone.
And I never see my old friends face,
For life is a swift and terrible race,
He knows I like him jut a well,
As in the days when I rang his bell.
And he rang mine but we were younger then,
And now we are busy tired men.
Tired of playing a foolish game,
Tired of trying to make a name.
"Tomorow" I say!"I will call on Jim
Just to show that I am thinking of him."
But tomorow comes and goes,
And distance between us grows and grows.
Around the corner,yet miles away,
"Here"s a telegram sir," Jim died today."
And that"s what we get and deserve in the end.
Around the corner,a vanished friend.
Remember to always say what you mean.
If you love someone ,tell them.
Because when you decide that it is the right time,
it might be too late..............
seize the day.Never have regrets.
And mot importantly, stay close to your friends and family,
for they have helped make you the peron that you are today."
This is sooooooooooo sweet!♥

"EL PASO, Texas (Reuters) - A female tiger has killed her mate at a West Texas zoo, authorities said on Friday, in a rare attack that came after months of simmering jealousy in a feline love triangle.
"The male tiger Wzui likes both females, but the two females don't like each other," the zoo said in a press release dated June 14. "The girls are jealous of each other," collections Supervisor Griselda Martinez said."

♥ H&M SG vs H&M HK ♥
As much as how we would hate to admit it...we r still being judged based on what we wear...it's a sad but somehow not-unimportant fact in this superficial society...otherwise, guess most ppl wouldnt mind walking around naked?! >.<" i get compliments if i were to wear a nice dress to work...
Woohoo...i finally made it into H&M without queueing after my kickboxing class yest nite! it was a mess inside the store manz @.@" but i managed to grab some cheap basic tees (i need thin tees to weather the freakingly hot weather here manz! =.=") i couldnt resist the cutie Snoopy panties set as well as singlet+short set ;p then i went to the third level n found the cutie hello kitty bag n stuff tt i was looking for...keke ;p i was chatting with the staff there...they r v.poor thing manz...most of them worked till past midnite (catching public transport home was considered lucky manz) n some worked till 2+am...n some staff reported to work at abt 6am...gosh...we really need to appreciate the staff n avoid throwing clothes all over the place manz! o.O" so pls think twice before throwing the clothes around n everywhere n anywhere!!!
Btw, H&M restock the merchandize everyday =) but 1 thing i dont like abt shopping here in sg is...the ppl here tend to b so kiasu to grab most stuff once they hit the stores...so most sizes tend to b outta stock pretty fast...unless u r super skinny or super fat...then not much of an issue o.O" it's juz like how i kinda stopped buying Mango stuff here...most of the time, i cant find my sizes...but most sizes r still avail in JB o.O" but in H&M HK, most sizes seem to be still avail for non-sales items...apparently, the prices in HK seem to be much lower than H&M here! (or perhaps i went during the sales season?) anyway, that was part of the reason y i grabbed so muchie H&M stuff when i was in HK in July!♥
Anyway, i checked with the senior H&M staff here tt they seem to use the same type of sensor tag here...so will bring the H&M dress which i bought in HK n still has the sensor attached attached to it for tag removal...i wonder how frequent r the new arrivals manz...keke ;p btw, doubt it's a gd idea to buy evening dresses here...u may run the risk of wearing the same dress as someone else at dinner/party ;p or maybe it's juz me...i prefer those more unique stuff which need not b expensive...but muz b pretty ;p btw, i bought quite a few pretty dress from H&M HK...even my cynical mum agreed tt these dresses r pretty ;p but i dont seem to see them here at H&M SG o.O" well, then the probability of someone else wearing the same dress as leechie here is not tt high then ;p i left my heart in HK...wanna go back there n shop some more! ;p
