Many thanks to Harper's Bazaar mag for the pair of tickets to Macbeth Premiere Nite =) brought my leechie mum to Fort Canning for this play...she initially thought tt the play would be in an indoors setting until i told her to pack some mats or whatever so tt we could sit outdoors in the park o.O I was really thankful for the heavy rain earlier in the day...it was nice n dry when we reached fort canning =)
The last time tt a leechie was at Fort Canning was a couple of years ago for D&D at The Legends...so i wasn't sure where exactly the Gothic Gate entrance was...so gotta thank the front desk staff at The Legends for directions to the venue =) there were alot of ppl there by the time we found the exact venue o.O most of them were sitting on the grass slope...quite a big crowd...we found a spot n parked ourselves on the steps...leechie was a literature student but this was the v.first time that i watched a Shakespeare play live! being a literature student, i had problems trying to rem my quotes for exams...so i was really impressed with how the actors n actresses could memorize their Shakespearean lines n act out the scenes with such emotions! Particularly, Lady Macbeth was such a memorable character...n i gotta say tt i was really impressed with the stage setup n the stage transformation for each scene =) For those of u who havent seen this play...go watch it before the run ends ya =)

Rushed over to Fabrika for DBS Black Top Party right after Macbeth ended...it was the first time tt i attended DBS Black Top Party...cos i juz received my DBS black card recently...i was holding onto the DBS amex gold card which i hardly use n they sent me this black card, saying tt it's more suitable for a leechie...whatever tt means o.O this was my second time at Fabrika...i was there for Halloween last year...but i still had problems trying to reach the 17th floor...took the wrong lift n ended up at the function rooms instead =.=" they were serving Chivas sour n Chivas dry this time round...think i prefer Chivas sour more ;p i kinda like the open-air concept of the place...but i reached Fabrika rather late...think many ppl were leaving by the time i got there...thought i saw a familiar face at the lift...but doubt he rems/recognizes a leechie o.O" thanks the marketing team of DBS Black card for organizing this event...looking forward to more happening events from them =)

"Like most Singaporeans, I have grown up reading the Straits Times. I based my life and the decisions I make on information supplied to me in this daily. The strength of the influence on me was so great, I couldn't see the obvious problems of people around me. I took it that it was completely "normal" for people not to be able to afford medical care. for children to skip meals because parents have no money and that the everyday strain of those around me is just "normal". Things are alright the Straits Times tell me. If people suffered, they deserve it under our meritocratic system because if top leaders have to be paid millions for their competence, it should be okay for lesser mortal to take some suffering.
My biggest regret in life is that I never looked into the eyes of those who suffered. Let me explain. When old men come to my table to ask me to buy tissue, I would continue eating with one hand and wave the other to ask him to go away, My belief is these people "foul up" their own lives and now have to sell tissue paper. When the aged cleaner comes to clean my table, I will just take it as normal that she has to work since the doctrine our leaders is those without money should never retire...while they get millions in pension after they serve 2 terms in office.
A few months ago, when an old lady hunched and with hands shaking came to clean my table, I looked at her. I want to show you a picture similar to what I saw:
It was the lines and wrinkles so many ...so many reflecting the years she had to struggle to reach her age. I asked myself why is there no rest for this old lady...why is she still working? Here we have a country that can afford to spend $300M on a youth event and billions on the most advanced weapons but cannot give something to make this old lady's life better. What kind of country do we live in? What kind of leaders do we have?
I was very touched and moved when I heard Nicole Seah talk about what motivated her to go into politics. She said she worked as a volunteer to deliver food to old folks and as a volunteer she could only make sure that some of the old folks have food for that day. The old folks had a roof over their heads but did not have any money left after they paid for govt fees and utilities. The question she asked herself eventually led her to join opposition politics to try to bring about a more lasting change.
I think Nicole Seah shames all of us ...for not thinking more and doing more.
The last elections, I didn't care much about anything and spent my time watching TV and shopping - I thought everything in this country is "normal" and I should just accept the status quo. But 4 months ago, I was awakened from my slumber and felt that I cannot do nothing this time. I've offered my time to be a volunteer for the WP and as a minimum I'll attend all rallies as a sign of support for the men and women who stepped forward.
Go look around you. Open your eyes and your mind. This is a country very much in need of change. We cannot keep the status quo. I biggest regret is that I took so long to wake up and do something about it. It is almost too late....and perhaps already too late but we must try!"

Leechie was v.excited to attend Balaclava Ion launch party =) thx the lovely ladies at L'Officiel mag for organizing this cool event B-) this was my first time at Balaclava Ion...i lurve the classy ambience here...v.different from its previous location at suntec...they have a v.cool bar concept here...there's a row of steps leading to the 2nd level of the bar...n from there, one would be able to get a pretty good view of the entire Balaclava =)
Leechie fav lychee martini was on the house...pleasant surprise to see tt their lychee martini was served with 2 lychees each =) had some red wine which kinda helped to clear up my cough...i know this sounds ridiculous...but red wine always helps to improve my cough...perhaps, i'm juz abit different...lol ;p anyway, most cough mixtures contain alcohol too...noticed tt they serve Johnnie Walker blue label here too o.O well, tried the blue label on the rocks for the first time...it tasted v.smooth n sweet...nice =) tried the gold label too...but prefers the blue label...but after i bottoms up a blue label on the rocks, i felt abit too overwhelmed...abit too strong for me x.X" learnt tt the blue label is the most premium Johnnie Walker (think a bottle of blue label has a price tag of $600+?)...followed by the gold label o.O was told tt the blue label wont cause nasty hangovers o.O" but after a while, the effects of all the drinks (all the lychee martinis, red wine, blue label, gold label...) started to kick in...esp after all the drama n trauma earlier in the day @.@" besides drinks, Balaclava serves pretty tasty food too =)
